Montville State School is very actively involved in school sport. With many carnivals and events occuring throughout the year, there is always a sport for everyone to participate in.
Athletics
Training begins early in the year. As all students across the school particpate in our annual Athletics Carnival towards the end of term two. The carnival is usually run over two days, with Prep - 3 being held on the Thursday and 4-6 on the Friday. The focus of these events are participation rather than competition.
Small Schools Carnivals
Each year Montville State School participates in all the small schools carnivals. These events include:
- Athletics
- Ball games
- Cross Country
- Cricket
- League Tag
- Soccer
- Swimming
- Volleyball
Cross Country
Our annual cross country event takes place in Russell Family park at the beginning of term 2. All students participate in the event and run 1km, 2km or 3kms (depending on age).
Surf Awareness Skills Program
All students in 5 and 6 participate in an accredited surf life-saving program in partnership with Mooloolaba Beach SLSC and Queensland Surf Lifesaving. The program includes:
- Surf education
- Still water skills evaluation
- Surf survival and rescue skills
- Surf awareness lecture
- Rip identification
- Basic first aid
- Basic rescue in moderate surf conditions
- Perform basic surf manoeuvers in controlled conditions
Swimming
Swimming instruction is provided for students from Prep to Year 4 in term 4 of each year. The sporting programs at Montville encourage participation from all students and form an integral part of the school sports program.
Tennis
Montville State School has an outstanding partnership with a local tennis coach. Lessons are avilable after school on Fridays. Please contact the school office for more infomation.
