Welcome to our first full year of Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden classes! After last term’s well received Introductory classes it will be exciting to run the program for a whole term with two classes. Each term will be another grade’s turn.
Grades 3 & 4 will experience the first classes, starting next Tuesday 11 February. Grade 4 is first session – 9.am-10.45am, while Grade 3 follows in the second session, 11.30-1.15pm.
Parents from either class, if you would like to assist at anytime during the term, please contact me so you can be added to the helper list. In fact, without adult supervision the program cannot run, so it’s essentialwe have your help. I should add to parents & Grandparents outside of these nominated classes are more than welcome to help also. If you know of a community member who may also be interested in assisting us in either the Kitchen or the Garden, please encourage them to contact Mrs McCormick or Leanne Matthews for further information.
We have had some new developments towards the program these first weeks back at school. Mr Habel has purchased a washing machine and chest freezer for the school, while the P&C were successful with another grant that will go towards raised garden beds and irrigation for the garden. Our Garden certainly had to cope with some extreme heat over the holidays!! I would like to thank Gina & Luke Dawson and Vanessa Smolders for their watering efforts over the break. We wouldn’t have anything to start the year off if it wasn’t for their hard work and commitment to the Garden.
Looking forward to the next 8 weeks of kitchen experiences.
